Everyone know Audrey Hepburn starred with Gregory Peck in Roman Holiday, a film that launch the career of the Vespa scooter on the silver screen.It also did wonders for the marketing of the product, which leads me up to this post because while most will recognise the lead photo as a still from said film, how many noticed this later promotional photo of Audrey pictured on a British build Douglas Vespa from Bristol, presumable collared by a photographer whilst visiting these fair shores and asked to pose on said scooter because of said film?
And what better PR stunt for Douglas too – a famous actress on their growing brand of cute Italian commuter scooters? Now not only did their scooters have the edge over the less curvaceous British rivals, but their models were pretty hot too!
