The Euro Vespa Rally of 2006 in Torino

Back in 2006 a few of us rode down through France and over the Alps into Italy that summer – on P2s and a T5 – to celebrate 60 years of the Vespa at the EuroVespa Rally in Turin. By chance I just found this video below online which reminded me of that trip, and also that it was when I first met stunt rider Nicola who was performing ad hoc on a race track following a rideout on the Friday, and then during a mass rideout on Saturday as well as in the city centre square during the rally.

By the way, this video shows a little of Saturday’s rideout regarding numbers but honestly, it really doesn’t tell the whole story. At one stage we had six lanes blocked with stationary Vespas there were simply so many in attendance. Apparently police estimates of that day have been as many as 10,000 scooters on the ride – wow!
