Is this going to be the rarest production Vespa ever sold?
Piaggio are celebrating their 140th anniversary by producing just 140 special edition Vespas and you have only four days to buy one!
The Piaggio Style Centre has created a model that collectors will no doubt already have their eyes upon. It will be manufactured in a limited number of no more than 140 units and it will only be available for four days, the same days as the Vespa World Days 2024 rally, from 18 to 21 April. Apparently, the ‘Vespa 140th of Piaggio’ (their translation, not mine), can be ordered on the web (vespa.com) or in person at the Vespa Village during the event which takes place in Pontedera, Italy, near the Vespa factory.
The ‘Vespa 140th of Piaggio’ is based on the Vespa GTV with its low headlight and exposed handlebar that hark back the original Vespas of the 1940s and 50s. The special version has blue and light blue graphics on a white body, the Piaggio Group’s colours, which “interact with the classic graphics and the new Vespa monogram, as well as the celebratory 140-years logo.” These colours also enhance the horn cover on the front legshield. The blue seat has double tone-on-tone stitching and is designed to give the look of a sporty single seat.
The wheel rims, blue with light blue inserts, are also dedicated to this model. The aesthetics of the new ‘Vespa 140th of Piaggio’ are completed by the black finishes of the body profiles, the mirrors, the silencer, and the fold-away passenger footrests.
Each unit will be identified by a numbered plate located on the rear shield, also enhanced with the 140-years logo.
The new Vespa 140th of Piaggio is powered by the single cylinder 300 hpe (High Performance Engine) motor, with 4-valve timing, liquid cooling, and electronic injection producing a claimed power of 17.5 kW (23.8 HP). The light clusters are full LED, the instrumentation is now entirely digital so you take advantage of the features provided by the Vespa MIA connectivity system, available as an accessory.
It has a keyless ignition system, ASR electronic traction control and an ABS anti-lock braking system.
There is no idea on the price yet, but don’t expect it to be cheap.
