Back in edition 37 of ScooterNova magazine we celebrated the 90th anniversary of legendary Italian carburettor manufacturer, Dellorto.
The company was founded in Seregno in 1933 and since then their products have featured on both production and race vehicles, from the humble Lambretta and Vespa scooters to championship winning motorcycles raced by sports stars such as Giacomo Agostini and Andrea Iannone.
Celebrating the brand’s 90th anniversary, Dellorto once again had a stand at Eicma in Milan this year which included celebrity guests, two-wheelers from a classic Vespa 150 to the Ducati that raced in the MotoE world championship that Dellorto equips with a package of sensors and software, the historic MV Agusta 500 of 15-time world champion Giacomo Agostini using a Dellorto SS 30A carburettor, to the Gilera 250 equipped with the VHSD with which Marco Simoncelli won the 2008 world championship.
Dellorto also displayed a wide range of products from their first carburettor, the Rex of 1933, to their latest carburettors, throttle bodies, electronic control units, EGR valves, fuel pumps and their innovative Ride-by-wire engine control system.
Something else brand new from Dellorto, “in order not to forget where it all began and to celebrate its history,” is the PHBG 90 Anniversary carburettor created to celebrate their 90th anniversary.
Specifically designed for racing use only, compared to the ‘standard’ PHBG, “The 90th edition boasts among other improved specifications a 15% increase in air flow, a more prompt delivery thanks to the new Venturi geometry, a new Ni-Teflon anti-friction treatment of the throttle valve and a chromed Avional mixture chamber cover. Not just a collector’s item but a true high-performance carburettor.”
