Patrick Cox gold designer scooter for sale (owned by David Furnish)

A very rare 1998 Italjet Velocifero retro scooter, one of only 20 finished in gold, is about to go up for auction.

An extremely limited-edition scooter produced in collaboration between Italjet and the renowned fashion designer, Patrick Cox, Sir Elton John’s husband, David Furnish, was the first registered keeper.

The Italian Italjet Velocifero retro-styled scooter rose to fame on the back of the Britpop era in the 1990s, with celebrities from Jamie Oliver to Oasis owning and riding them.

Patrick Cox actually did a Wanabee loafers version in black and white with a snakeskin seat. A hundred or so of those were produced.

However this rare and very limited edition version (of just 20) produced in collaboration with Patrick Cox comes complete 14-carat-gold-plated side mirrors, has only 532km on the clock and comes with email correspondence from Patrick Cox.

It is going under the hammer at H&H Classics’ first motorcycle and vintage scooter auction of the year, which takes place on 29 March 2023, at the National Motorcycle Museum.

Viewing is available from 9am the same day. Bidding can be done online, via telephone, or in person. To view all of the scooters and motorcycles going under the hammer, click here, or for more information, visit www.handh.co.uk. (All images by Andy Gillard/ ScooterNova magazine).
