For those who don’t know of her, Juvena Huang, aka the Wandering Wasp is a young lady that decided that riding a Vespa was the best way to travel from her native Singapore to  Europe.

A method of transport that we all agree with of course (there is no better way to see the world), earlier today she posted a photograph of herself on her Facebook page at the top of the Khardung Pass, which at 5359 metres above sea level is apparently the highest ‘motorable’ road in the world (although the Wikipedia entry for the pass disagrees with this claim).

Carrying about 50kg of luggage with her on her Vespa, Juvena has so far travelled through countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Burma and Nepal before she reached India, and while she’s already had more than her fair share of moments, having to fit snow chains to her Vespa PX to ride it to the top of the Khardung Pass was something else!

Currently in Pakistan and continuing her adventure on her humble Vespa, we think she sums up her choice of transport well when recently reporting on an issue with damaged suspension unit in India, when she said, “After all the abuses in Ladakh, I sent my scooter for check up at Chandigarh Autocare – Authorised dealer for LML. Rear shock is gone, getting it replaced for $20. I would not get parts so easily and cheaply if I travel on some other bikes that others insist is the gold standard for adventure touring.”

She’s also doing very well without the entourage that follow some of the ‘adventure bikers’ too!

You can follow Juvena on a live map here, read her blog here and follow the Wandering Wasp on Facebook too, checking out her latest photos and also meeting some of the amazing people she has met so far on her travels.
