Isle of Man Scooter Week Memories

There is no doubting that the Isle of Man Scooter Week events were extremely popular with scooter enthusiasts of all marques.

Vespas, Lambrettas and other scooters that are today lesser known were all part of it, with entrants ranging from solo scooterists through clubmen (and women!) to competitive team riders.

ScooterNova magazine recently caught up with South Devon Vespa Club member Luke Kitto and his wife Sheila, for a chat about their time on two small wheels. Through the decades this has included local events in south west England to competing on the Isle of Man.

Over an extensive 10 page article in edition 54 of ScooterNova magazine, Luke and Sheila kindly shared their memories and photo albums for a fascinating read about those golden years of the scooter scene.

Club magazines, the local scooter shops, marques and models owned, places visited, friendships made, on and off-road events and trophies awarded along the way, it was wonderful to sit down and learn so much more about the scooter scene that Luke first entered into on a Lambretta LD back in 1958.

Like Luke, Sheila also enjoyed riding smallframe Vespas but enough spoilers for now – get yourself a copy of the March/April 2026 edition of ScooterNova magazine and enjoy the read!
