Statement from the BSRA – 2025 National Rallies

2025 Rally Dates – BSRA Statement – August 2024:

The British Scooter Rallies Association (BSRA) is a committee of clubs, alliances, scooter organisations and scooter riding individuals who have a genuine love and interest in perpetuating the traditional British National Scooter Rally. The main role is to look after the needs of ordinary road-going scooterists, and protect the National Rally scene. In recent years the BSRA have sat during the last National event of the year in October to discus the following year’s events. But things have changed since the BSRA was founded in 1997, which has included how scooter rallies are organised, advertised and promoted.
The committee have been discussing how to meet with these changes and have issued the following statement about 2025’s National Scooter Rallies:

BSRA Statement – August 2024

We will be releasing provisional 2025 national dates in a few weeks. This new way of doing things is for various reasons.

Firstly, it is getting harder to find venues that will take the large numbers needed for a national scooter rally and when we do find them we have to book years in advance to get the dates we need. The venues in the likes of Weymouth, Scarborough and Llandudno can book up five or six years in advance.

Secondly, we are finding in this new era of social media people are releasing rally dates sometimes well over a year in advance which means we cannot just release dates in October anymore. I personally realise that some organisers no longer worry about avoiding national dates and a certain proportion of scooterists are now happy to stay local and no longer do the long rides they used to, but we feel generally giving the dates earlier will allow other organisers who support the UK-wide scene to avoid clashing with the national rallies if they can.

Lastly, hotels and B&Bs. A lot of the towns we use are very popular seaside towns but nationwide these towns no longer have as many hotels and B&Bs as they used to. Provisionally releasing the dates earlier will give people who want to attend the rally a better chance of getting their choice of accommodation.

This isn’t a step we have taken easily, but it is something we felt we have had to do. Most people on the committee have been riding scooters for three or four decades and love the national rally scene and all its aspects, so moving away from our traditional way of doing things doesn’t come naturally to us. But we really feel it is a step we now need to take.

As I stated, these will be provisional dates and may not be a comprehensive list of next year’s rallies, but we are trying to give you as much information as we can in advance.

We have agreed this via online communication this year, but will discuss exactly how we will be doing this going forward at the regular meeting in Llandudno.
