Lambretta factory riders, racers & prototypes

Soon after Innocenti produced their first Lambretta scooters in 1947, they followed a well-beaten and competitive path of the many motorcycle manufacturers who used endurance and top speed record attempts to prove the worth of their products and raise awareness of their brand.

Recently the Lambretta Club Milano hosted a ‘Records & Racers’ evening of talks and images relating to these times. The speakers included Vittorio Tessera of Casa Lambretta and also curator of the Innocenti Archive, Dean Orton who had interviewed the famous racer Romolo Ferri before he sadly passed away, and Enzo Rizzi, son of famous Innocenti test rider and racer, Riccardo Rizzi.

Rare Prototypes

Exclusively to ScooterNova magazine we bring you the highlights of that evening along with some amazing archive images, laid out over nine pages in the magazine for all to enjoy in their fine detail. This includes old photographs of prototype racing Lambrettas that we don’t think have been seen before in public, certainly not recently. They show just how rough and ready some of the scooters were while being tested for racing and record-breaking.
