New rainwear from Tucano Urbano

We’re not shy in admitting we’re pretty big fans of Tucano Urbano rider clothing here at ScooterNova magazine. For a number of years now we’ve been wearing the Italian brand’s products for tens of thousands of miles throughout Europe on our scooters and they’ve kept us warm, safe and dry along the way. The latest addition to their range is a

practical waterproof jacket that is aimed at commuters but will suit a lot of rally-going scooterists down to the ground as well.

Tucano Urbano’s new Nano Rain Zeta jacket is a rain jacket made from a breathable, windproof and waterproof Ripstop polyamide outer with a high waterproof rating (5000mm), taped seams and a storm trap on the collar. For maximum breathability, there’s an aeration system under the arms. It is very compact and we use the base version of this jacket ourselves which I know from experience can be stuffed in the pocket of my jeans when not being worn. The Zeta jacket can be stored in a small pouch that can be attached to backpacks or luggage by means of a Velcro strap.

Base version? Yes the new Zeta version is designed to not only be put on over the top of your regular riding jacket when an unexpected shower appears, but to also keep the back pack you are wearing dry too. For this it has a backpack extension zipped panel on the back. It also comes with an ergonomic hood that can be used to protect you from the rain when off the bike, and folded away into the neck when wearing a helmet on the bike.

While Tucano will tell you that the Nano range is a practical solution for when you get caught out in the rain, in my experience the jackets and trousers we’ve used have kept us dry in conditions far more severe that expected. The Nano Rain Zeta jacket is available  in dark blue or fluro yellow and in seven sizes from XS to 3XL with a RRP of £72.99.

And if you need trousers too, the Panta Rain Zeta are the matching rain trousers that are also very compact when folded away, and feature neat, concealed, extractable shoe covers, as well as pleats at the ankles to make it easy to get them on and off – even in the rain. Both jacket and trousers also feature reflective inserts for enhanced visibility. Available on black or fluro yellow, and the same seven sizes, the trousers have a RRP of £44.99.
