Old Skool Scooter Touring

How far do you venture on your Vespa or Lambretta?  Back in the 1950s scooter touring was big business as commuters chose to use their daily transport for social excursions too.

Like today, it wasn’t just the UK that British scooterists explored, they ventured overseas into Europe too. Of course back then there were no roll-on roll-off ferries, and there was no international breakdown recovery service either. To make your life easier though, Vespa dealer Withers offered riders their ‘Overseas Holiday Service’ which included rider training for new riders contemplating Europe for the first time, ‘Service Packs’ of likely replacement parts for continental holiday-makers, and they even offered to fly needed spares to the nearest airport.

Not bad at all we think you’ll agree, and certainly something to encourage scooterists to take their scooters further than their daily commute or local club rideout.
