This year saw the 10th Tre Mari ‘race’ organised in the south of Italy by the Vespa Club of Bari, a four-day riding event covering nearly 1000 kilometres in which only geared scooters are allowed to enter.
Setting off from Bari in glorious sunshine last week, we had torrential rain and horrendous road conditions in the middle before finishing up with more sunshine for the last couple of days of coastal riding. However, despite all this, all those attending seems to have a smile on their face most of the time.
An event not for the faint hearted – you’ve got to be up for a lot of riding in varying conditions and terrains – the result is rewarding with some beautiful scenery, loads of gorgeous Lambretta and Vespa scooters from the 1950s to the modern-day to appreciate, dozens of new friends to make, and a sense of achievement upon completion. Thank you also to the Vespa Club of Bari for their organisation and hospitality during the event, which was amazing. Grazie!
