How much more seasonal can you get than a snow sculpture of a Vespa? Created at the 20th Snow Festival of San Candido in January 2010 Emiliano Lorenzo Vicente, Lázaro Ginarte and Ona Curto were the talents behind this piece of cold art.
For those thinking of having a go themselves – or spectating – the rules are very simple: fresh local snow is pressed together in 3m x 3m x 3m blocks with which the teams can play with their ideas. The result of the work should be an imaginative sculpture. Apart from the tools the sculptors can use only water, which is used as an adhesive because it will be soon become ice due to the freezing winter temperatures in the area.
The works have to be finished within three days, then they are going to be inspected and voted by the guests in the various tourist resorts and the local residents.
The 2014 Snow Sculpture Festival will be held in Innichen from the 8th to the 10th of January, and from the 13th to the 15th of January 2014 in San Vigilio.
