Lambretta 50 (very) Special

The Vespa 50 Special scooter is pretty well known here in the UK. This is no doubt thanks in part to the Mod-Revival of 1979 which saw loads of 16 year olds cutting their teeth on the stylish Italian moped. Less well known however is that Innocenti also produced 50 Special, model for their Lambretta brand.

The Lambretta 50 Special was a version of their 1960s smallframe J50 range. Fairly popular in their native Italy among 14 year olds who could ride such a scooter legally, sales never matched that of the Vespa 50.

The Lambretta 50 was not a powerful scooter either, but this one is! Fitted with a Casa Performance CP135 kitted engine, you can read about the build and full spec of this special Lambretta 50 Special in edition 43 of ScooterNova magazine.  And if you have a Lambretta J50 that feels under-powered and not that usable on modern roads, then you will want to read this article.
