It’s that time of year again scooter people; as October draws to a close so the Bridlington show arrives, signalling the endĀ of the BSRA scooter rally season.
What, Where and When?
Over the weekend of 28 and 29 October 2016, if you’ve attended before then the format remains virtually unchanged for the last few years. Friday night sees scooterists from all over the UK and Europe arrive in town, hopefully not too bedraggled! Rally stalwarts VFM have booked the Bridlington Spa for Friday and Saturday night offering a number of rooms of entertainment courtesy of scooter rally DJs and live bands. There are three rooms on Friday night; Red Ed’s Vinyl Vault of Soul, the Bosstunes Bar playing the finest ska & reggae, plus the main room playing an eclectic mix of floor fillers. On Saturday night the Young Guns SC are hosting a fourth party room to keep the atmosphere high with some youthful tunes!
Live on Friday night are local band Page 45 supporting The Absolute Kinks, a tribute to the 60s Mod icons. Saturday night’s live music is courtesy of another local band Capital Eye, with Style Councillers headlining – a fine tribute to Paul Weller’s post-JamĀ band.
Show Time!
The big show takes place on Saturday, also at the Spa, hosted by the Lambretta Club of Great Britain. Doors open to the public at 11am and once inside expect to be amazed by around 100 of the finest classic and custom scooters in the country. There will also be a couple of very rare special guests by way of the 1951 world record-breaking Lambretta scooter plus a classic factory Model C Racer, courtesy of Rimini Lambretta Centre and Casa Lambretta. The record breaker alone is worth checking out as you may never get another chance to see it outside of its native Italy.
Elsewhere in the Spa on Saturday you’ll find dozens of scooter dealers selling spares and accessories for Lambretta and Vepsa scooters, along with records, clothing, memorabilia and more.
Advance evening tickets are available by calling Steve 07774 893178 or via www.vfmscoot.co.uk
For the show on Saturday you can pay on the door, while LCGB members should bring their cards for entry.
Accommodation in town will be scarce at this late stage, but do check out the BSRA and Bridlington event Facebook pages where cancellations are advertised. You’ll need to quick though!
Safe ride and see you in Brid!
