Mammoth 6

Thank you to everyone who attended the ScooterNova magazine and EMSA Mammoth Scooter Parts Fair Six and made it another fantastic success. Over 150 undercover table pitches sold out in advance, and plenty of outdoor pitches turned up on the day to take full advantage of some glorious sunshine.

Traders came from all corners of the country from Cumbria down to the south coast, Wales in the west to Essex and Kent in the east, along with Germany and Ireland too and a steady stream of customers came on two wheels and four throughout the day with plenty of bargains to be had.

Mammoth FAQ

For Traders

The Mammoth is about classic scooters, so if you have nothing to do with them then this event is not for you. The venue hosts regular weekly markets which might be more your thing.

Yes of course. People attending the Mammoth love both project bikes and ready to ride machines. Feel free to start them up outside but please no test rides with so many people walking around the site.

If you have booked an undercover pitch, then yes. If you are outside then you need to bring everything you need with you.

Most undercover pitches have vehicle access to within a few feet. Please be courteous and unload as quickly as possible and remove your vehicle to the parking area so others can unload behind you.

If you have an undercover pitch, please unload as quickly as possible and follow instructions from a Mammoth volunteer to nearby parking. Please DO NOT park outside the hall because this blocks access for others.

It is approximately the size of your vehicle, so a LWB van is longer than a car. Vehicles are parked nose to tail, so please be considerate to your neighbours and make sure you keep the walk way clear for people to walk by and shop.

We strongly advise that you do to avoid disappointment. The undercover pitches for Mammoth 6 sold out before the cut off date.

Because the definition of advance bookings is that they happen before the event. The 5 or 6 days between the closing date and when the gates open gives us time to make final plans for the event to help make it run smoothly.

Sorry, no. The 5 or 6 days between the closing date and when the gates open gives us time to make final plans for the event to help make it run smoothly.

Always check this website and the social media event page beforehand. We generally have some outside pitches available on the day, unless the website and social media pages say otherwise.

Adverts for the Mammoth Parts Fairs are placed in ScooterNova magazine, here on the ScooterNova website, on the social media sites (the EMSA and ScooterNova pages for example). We also print thousands of A6 sized leaflets that are distributed at the main UK scooter events like BSRA scooter rallies, VMSC & BBSC shows, LCGB and VCB events, as well as via various scooter shops nationwide. Promotion generally begins between 4 and 6 months in advance of the event.

In our opinion, too many scooter parts fairs on the calendar in the past led to those events losing their attraction and impact, resulting in fewer people attending and not many secondhand scooter parts. Having a Mammoth at the beginning and at the end of the season gives everyone two opportunities before and after the rallies to have a clear out an also buy up what they may need for the next season. We think just two big events per year helps make them special and well attended.

Melton Mowbray is a central location (about 35 miles from the centre of England) and easily accessible to scooterists from all over the UK and Europe. We already have people attending from Scotland down to Cornwall, Ireland and mainland Europe. At the moment we think two big events per year helps make them special and well attended, but who knows what the future may bring...

For Browsers/Buyers

No. It's only a fiver to get in. You can pay upwards of £13 for a corporate run event at a showground, so we don't think a fiver for an event run by scooterists is unreasonable.

Cash is king. Some of the scooter shops may accept both, private sellers more likely to accept cash only. The town centre is only a few minutes walk away with plenty of ATMs.

The amount of secondhand parts being sold will give the buyer more opportunity to inspect the quality of what they are buying. The likelihood of several sellers selling the same parts means that haggling for the best deal is easier face to face with the seller.

Yes of course. You will get a hand stamp at the gate so you can return.

Well, you should have eaten your Weetabix for breakfast, right? Seriously, you can speak with one of our Mammoth volunteers and arrange to bring your car to the traders gate at the end of the day. For safety reasons we cannot have vehicles moving while people are walking around.

Not on site, due to the amount of people walking around. You can ask the seller to start it up outside of the undercover area to hear it run. It is up to you to satisfy yourself that engine and frame numbers are in order and match the logbook/ paperwork provided.
