New British Lambretta Lui/J Kit from GT

The man behind the Gran Turismo range of Lambretta kits, Richard Taylor, has been working away on an new product. This time he’s looking at the Lambretta smallframe market, the Lui and J range scooters.

Pictured are the first test fits of the Gran Turismo GT110 and GT120 bolt-on cylinder kits for small case Lambretta engines. There are two kits, both cast iron with reed valve and die cast cylinder head; 110cc for 44 stroke and 120cc for 48 stroke (max capacity 150cc). Richard tells us, “Importantly, these kits are true bolt on performance and use the original cranks, head cowlings and don’t require expensive custom parts.

He continues, “Like all GT kits this design develops power through torque delivery not revs.”
We have previously ridden the GT 150 reed valve kit for the Lambretta D and LD in edition 22 of ScooterNova magazine. We also road-tested the GT240 in edition 4 and were impressed with both.

The forthcoming smallframe kit will be re-bore-able with eight over-sizes potentially available, compatible with standard cowlings, cranks and exhausts and manufactured in England. Richard told us that he expects the first casting run to be circa mid-March, testing April/May with target retail delivery in June. The retail price is expected to be just shy of £500 including VAT and the kit will consist of head, cylinder, piston, manifold, reed and fixings.
As for those with older Lambrettas, there is still a GT kit for the LC125 in the pipeline too. Search for the ‘Gran Turismo Performance’ page on social media for information. Of course we’ll bring you updates as they become available so keep an eye on the ScooterNova blog here, and of course in ScooterNova magazine where future road tests will be published.
