London to Milan Lambretta ride, 1965

The second recorded London to Milan Lambretta ride took place in 1965, starting at the RAC Club in London’s Pall Mall.

Ian Speller and Bob Webb took turns to ride a Lambretta TV200 and managed the trip in 19 hours 35 minutes, clocked upon their arrival at the Innocenti offices in Milan. This gave them an average of 37.3mph by all accounts, and was apparently both quicker and cheaper than the London to Milan Express train.

Beating the 1960 record by just over three hours, it would take another two years before the might of Arthur Francis Ltd took on the challenge.
