A close relation to the motor-scooter during the 50s and 60s was the bubblecar, some models utilising scooter engines for power. 
Bubblecars arguably caused the demise of the scooter too, offering customers a financial bridge between open-air riding on two wheels and a proper car with four wheels and weather protection.
This Saturday, 7 June 2014 Bonhams the auctioneers have no less than 12 Messerschmitt Bubblecars up for auction at their sale in association with the VMCC Banbury Run, including a KR175 with clear roof and a KR201 Roadster (convertible) replica.
These have estimates starting at £6k and £8k respectively, or you could bid for the KR200 Super replica of a vehicle that was originally built to break records back in the day and looks pretty good in our opinion.
Top of the estimates is the 1958 TG500 4-wheel ‘Tiger’ microcar with an estimate of between £40,000 and £60,000!
If that’s a little too rich however there are several project vehicles with estimates starting at £1500, and if you have anything left over the auction also includes a Triumph Tigress 250, ABC Scootamota and Moto Guzzi Galleto scooters. Happy bidding!
