Thanks to Casa Lambretta and Rimini Lambretta Centre here’s another photo from the Innocenti archives showing development of the a lambretta scooters during the 1950s.
Dated February 1959, Speculation as to what exactly the wire mesh around this Tv175 Series 2 actually is ranges from a design for Innocenti to go competing in world speed records again, or simply trying out new streamlined bodywork for a road-going scooter.
We reckon the wire around the handlebars looks a little like the shape of an accessory screen, yet those white discs front and side ring a bell too – we think as part of factory testing used to give readings on remote equipment.
Whatever it is, it’s interesting!
