S&S Scooter Porn

No, this is not a vain attempt to draw your eyes in with a misleading title (hands up who read S&M Porn then, hey?). This is in fact a gorgeous example of a Vespa engine that’s not only been tuned for performance but finished to catch your eye as well. Whether you’re a scooterist or a all-round petrolhead with an appreciative eye for automotive art, please take a minute to drool over what was once a humble Vespa Rally 180 engine. That was until the folk at Scooter & Service in Hamburg got their hands on it.

It’s all part of a project scooter they are building as a demonstrator, titled ‘PS 240 Scooter + Service’.

The crankcase is a Vespa Rally 180 part with an adaptor plate construction added so that a water-cooled Husqvarna WR 250 cylinder kit could be fitted. The crankshaft is a modifed Mazzucchelli 6.5mm stroke with excentric pin to suit the kit and a custom-made con-rod. They have also added a Keihin PWK 35 carburettor (the Germans love these, but I must say I find Dellorto carbs far easier to play with), electronic ignition and a Husqvarna flywheel cover which with the all over black finish does go together to make this engine look amazing in my opinion.

That’s not all though, because check out the exhaust they’ve fabricated for the scooter – now is this a work of art or what?

The Scooter & Service Curley S is a custom-made product, taking many hours to produce as you can imagine. The result is well worth it though, as far as we’re concerned anyway, and with around 37PS on a rolling road (PS is a little less than BHP, so 37 would be about 36.5bhp) with a programmable servo valve on the exhaust, it seems this engine will go as well as it looks too.

We can’t wait for the scooter to be finished. And if you can’t either then you can follow progress of PS 240 here, and you’ll be pleased to hear they also have an English language version of their website.
